I’m still alive -or- my last few hours October 6, 2006
What a night I’ve had!
Toxic cloud from plant forces thousands to evacuate
So we got a phone call at 2AM from a lady mom works with that Apex was being evacuated. We’re on the very edge of the evacuation area, so we decided to stay put unless someone came and told us we have to leave. So here I am, shut up in my house waiting to see if I have to go somewhere. Right now the HazMat team is at the sight checking things out. Some preliminary air tests (that they just reported on the news) says that they couldn’t find anything too disturbing floating around in the air at the explosion site, and the rain that’s falling seems to be helping clean up the air a bit. The most crazy thing to me right now is we were at the church for Bible study last night (just a few doors down from the plant) and didn’t leave until just a few minutes before all this started. All the roads I normally take to lessons on Fridays are closed and downtown Apex (webcam) is absolutely dead, so I’m staying put. But hey…when else is little old Apex going to make the front page of CNN?
be glad you got to stay home. i had to spend an hour and 45 mins on the parking lot that was 40.
wow…. i know i’m a bit late with this but that’s crazy…. i’m glad you’re ok though! well, at least i think you’re ok. are you ok???
oh, and happy birthday to thomas!!!!
