free time

June 28th, 2007

Lessons have been incredibly slow this week and I’ve had all this crazy free time on my hands during the day. The sad thing is I don’t feel that I’ve accomplished much, if anything. I need to empty the dishwasher. I have a mountain of laundry to do. I need to do my reading for the day. I need to call the health insurance guy back again (long and not fun story).

Wedding number…um…let me count…5 of the year is this Saturday, and I’m a bridesmaid. A bridesmaid who will be wearing a strapless dress on Saturday evening. I have a weird tan line on my upper back from way back in May…possibly even April…so I thought I’d even things out with some fake tan spray. The results weren’t terrible, all things considered, since I didn’t wake up orange this morning. I do, however, have a clearly defined line between my ankles and my feet, and the tan line I was trying to blend in on my back is somehow still completely visible. But at least I don’t look like an over-sized oompa loompa.

Looking forward to July. Looking forward to a month with almost no plans. Looking forward to actually having time to spend with my husband and going out on a couple of dates. Looking forward to sleeping in on Saturdays.

It may actually feel like summer then.

still giddy

June 27th, 2007

I was fully intending on writing a post with a little more substance today, but I don’t think it’s going to happen. I’ve just been so silly and happy this week, and for no particular reason. This week has actually been incredibly busy and I’ve been dealing with a few hard things, but I’m still so happy. Not complaining…don’t worry.

thankful

June 25th, 2007

What a wonderful weekend! The Harvest Crusade really reminded me of what a powerful, merciful, and loving God I serve. Thousands saved…how amazing!

And to my friends…you are awesome! I can’t imagine a better group to spend the weekend with. Thank you for your help and your friendship.

And finally, to my sweet husband…I love you. I love you. I love you. I love you. I love you.

Sigh…perhaps a post with a little more substance next time. Today I’m just really happy.

attack of the ants and other stories

June 11th, 2007

Last Sunday, a few days before I left for the beach, we had to spray for ants. Even though we don’t have any food out (and they didn’t go anywhere near where we store the food anyway) we had a steady stream of ants wander into our second floor apartment. So we found where they were coming in and completely obliterated them. End of story, right?

I left for the beach on Tuesday night and Thomas joined me on Thursday night. We had a great time. My mom decided she wanted to go spend a lot of money on me and bought me what feels like a whole new wardrobe. I spent more talking talking to my cousin, Becca, than I have in many years. My uncle Mike is teaching himself to play guitar, so we had a few lessons and a little jam session. And, of course, being on vacation with your new husband is always wonderful.

So Thomas and I arrived back home yesterday a little before 4 PM, and guess who else had come home. ANTS!!! This time they found a little opening over our pantry door and were having a lovely little ant parade around our kitchen sink. Once again, they were nowhere near any of the food in our kitchen. So we sprayed again, and because of the fumes and the awful stench we were forced to escape to my mom’s house on our first evening home from vacation.

When we got to mom’s house, the cat had thrown up at least three times and I felt obligated to clean it up since my mom wasn’t home from the beach yet. Ants and cat vomit all in a single day. Woo hoo!

Despite the not-so-great bookends, I really did have an awesome week at the beach. The older I get, the more I appreciate the family I have and the time I get to spend with them.

ah…relaxation

June 5th, 2007

I will be leaving in approximately 8 hours for my family’s annual beach trip. The past two or three months have been so jam packed with stuff (good stuff, mind you, but still stuff) that I am looking forward to a few days of relaxation even more than usual. The only down side is that Thomas couldn’t get off work, so he won’t be able to join me until Thursday night or Friday. I’ll miss him a lot, but I’m still looking forward to seeing my family.

So I’ll be on a break for a few days, but will be back next week. See ya.
