Then, of course, there’s the sauce. I’m originally from the western side of the state of NC where tomato-based barbecue sauce is king, but I’ve definitely been converted to the eastern NC way of doing things. This vinegar-based barbecue sauce is delicious!

|Eastern NC Style Barbecue Sauce|
Recipe Type: Sauce
What You Need
- 1 cup White vinegar
- 1 cup Cider vinegar
- 1 Tbsp. Sugar
- 1 Tbsp. Crushed red pepper flakes
- 1 Tbsp. hot sauce (I used Texas Pete)
- Salt – to taste
- Freshly cracked black pepper – to taste
What To Do
- Mix it all together and let it sit. It’s that simple.
